To increase the real and visible presence of Jesus Christ within the English-speaking Asian community in the City of Vancouver and the Province of B.C.

Guiding Principles
| Share

  • To establish an effective outreach to the non-believing English-speaking Asian community.
  • To affirm and strengthen the men and women who follow Jesus in the City to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
  • To build the bonds of support, love and fellowship among a diverse English-speaking Asian community in both Vancouver and the Province of British Columbia.
  • To instill a vision of leadership centered in Jesus Christ, which has a deep commitment to our families, friends and then naturally extends to our places of work, worship, community, Province, Country and the world.

  • To participate in a fellowship of men and women who share a common vision of the Kingdom of God by loving Jesus, supporting each other and reaching the world for Christ.
  • To be a pastoral and spiritual resource to the unchurched English-speaking Asian community in the City of Vancouver and encourage them to connect with a local church.
  • To facilitate, encourage and network the English-speaking Asian community and overall body of Christ to work together in pursuing Christ-centered visions, ministries, events and individuals.
  • To encourage people to take the next step in their spiritual lives towards Jesus Christ, through various opportunities of evangelism, small groups, bible study, discipleship and mentoring in ways that affect their private, working and social life.
  • To challenge those in the English-speaking Asian community whom God has blessed with resources of any kind (such as power, wealth, influence, skills, time, etc) to generously apply and share those resources with other in God’s Kingdom and world who have suffered from needs, inequities, pains and division both in our city and throughout the world.

Bill immigrated to Canada with his family at a tender age of 2 years. With the exception of one year working out of town right after graduating from university, Vancouver has been home to Bill.

Although Bill attended church since kindergarten, he didn’t come to a decision for Christ until after university. That was also the time that he met his wife, Linda, which was only a coincidence.

Bill has worked as a Professional Engineer for most of his career. He spent his early years working with various firms in the mining and forest products industries, and later with a engineering consulting firm as a project manager, specializing in materials handling systems, ports and marine terminal projects. He still works part-time as an engineering consultant.

In 2002, Bill took an 8-month leave of absence from his job to attend Regent College full-time. At that time, he wanted to take a well-earned break from his career to take some theological training and also to see what God had in store for him for the next phase of his life. After completing a Master of Christian Studies degree in Marketplace Theology in 2004, Bill felt called to serve as Director of Asian Ministries with City In Focus. In this capacity, Bill is connecting with Asian Christians in the workplace and helping them to integrate their "faith life" with their "work life."

Bill and Linda have two grown-up kids. They attend Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church – Knight Street Campus, where Bill serves as an Elder. Bill’s main interests include playing and watching hockey, tennis, listening to music, and reading a good book.
